Coming up

My biggest concern about moving away from a well-known blog site was if I'd manage to get people to read my blog. Today my this blog has been live for a week, and the time has come to assess how its doing.
My Dot Net Junkies blog had high read stats, but I suspect that many of my readers were the spam bots who swarmed the site.

Above are some of the stats for the posts before I decided to move. These posts had thousands of comments, and most of these were spam.

I've written five posts on this blog so far and these have been read by ~750 people. I'm pleased with having an average of 150 reads per post this far. My most popular post has been the one on Live Writer and Community Server, which surprises me a little because I reckoned that the one about the Money Pattern would get most attention.

Since this is the sixth post, I only have two to go before I surpass the number of posts written on my former blog for 2006!
A big thank you to everyone who has kept reading my stuff after I moved. You are my inspiration to keep writing.

Update: I forgot a couple of interesting facts when I first posted this.

  • Within 6 hours of going live I had my first inbound reference from del.icio.us.
  • After two days my new blog was the forth item when doing an "ego search" at Google.
  • My first search engine hit was an ego search for "Martin Fowler" at Technorati.
