Microsoft to support Ruby for the CLR?

Published 30 April 07 05:02 AM | andersnoras

Some time ago, Microsoft hired John Lam I have been looking forward to see Ruby becoming a member of the .NET family of languages. Today I stopped by the Silverlight web site and I read this:

"Microsoft® Silverlight™ is a cross-browser, cross-platform plug-in for delivering the next generation of .NET based media experiences and rich interactive applications for the Web. Silverlight offers a flexible programming model that supports AJAX, VB, C#, Python, and Ruby, and integrates with existing Web applications. Silverlight supports fast, cost-effective delivery of high-quality video to all major browsers running on the Mac OS or Windows."
From silverlight.net (My emphasis)

Does this imply that Ruby for .NET is around the bend? At least this got me excited!

According to Jim Hugunin (MS), the Dynamic Language Runtime (DLR) will initially support Python, JavaScript, VB, and yes, Ruby. Details can be found here:
