Why Quaere?

Quaere Logo A lot of people have been asking about the choice of name for my query extensions project. Quaere is the Latin imperative for of the word quaerere which means to seek or ask. The word is the origin for the English word query. The word is pronounced ‘kwir-E’. The project hasn’t always been known by this name. During development I used the codename JUNQ (pronounced “junk”).

The logo is a capital Q in the Cochin typeface. In this typeface, the tilde ornament is separated from the O. This kind of gives a two letters in one a Q and an O. This is a play on the Quaere for Objects extension which was the first thing I wrote.
